這篇文章要討論的是美國的學校成績單
不是學生成績單喔
所謂學校成績單就是指學校的教學測驗結果
這結果就像是學生年度期末考一樣
表示老師教學 教材應用 學生努力的成果
所有的學校當然必須有一樣的測驗
這才有研究跟比較的意義
不過目除了SAT這種大型的申請大學考試之外
全美國並沒有統一的考試
所以無法比較州跟州之間的差異
新澤西州的教育局每一年三月都對州內的中小學都有統一的測量考試
考三科 數學 英文 科學 追厜學生的程度變化

整體來說
去年新澤西州所有六年級的英文有42.7%是屬於不及格的
數學則有27.8%是屬於不及格的
比較不及格的比例就可以知道該學區是好或是爛學區
州政府的報告還按照種族跟性別來研究

當仔細研究這份報告後 就會大吃一驚
表格裡列的亞洲裔幾應該是第一代或是第二代的移民
理論上英文程度應該是會遠低於所謂的美國人
但是實際上卻是大幅度的領先其他族裔
連我住的中上學區都是如此
亞洲裔有高達23.5%是優秀 只有5.9% 是不及格
而所謂白人只有5.9%是優秀 卻有21.3% 是不及格
白人是不包括西語裔的
因為西語裔的程度更是糟糕
至於數學程度 那更是離譜
亞洲裔有高達63.2%是優秀 只有1.5% 是不及格
而所謂白人有29%是優秀 有14.3% 是不及格
我都覺得女兒學校教的數學已經太容易
怎麼會有那麼多學生數學會考不及格呢
新澤西州的教育在全美國已經算是前幾名的州
學生程度都如此低落
那其他州該怎麼辦呢
難怪美國這次經濟會摔的這麼慘
大多數學生注重玩樂 都不愛唸書
許多人對於數字都沒有概念
這才是美國這次危機的根本問題
難以想像歐巴馬要創造出四百萬的就業機會
如果主要是給中低程度的人
那美國是沒有復甦的可能
因為產品在國際上會沒有競爭力
我的總結是
雖然成績不代表一切
但是卻可以代表一個人有沒有努力
學校的成績單也反應出一個地區的家庭是否努力跟對未來的期許
